Written for physicians and other health care providers, the TIP presents information on the four medications approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat this disease: acamprosate, disulfiram, oral naltrexone, and extended-release injectable naltrexone. The TIP describes each medication’s mechanisms of action, proper dosing, side effects and their management, indications and contraindications, and patient management.
